HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani received today a telephone call from HE President of the United States of America Donald Trump. The call dealt with discussing the latest regional developments, particularly the efforts to reduce tensions between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran and to bring their views closer together, to enhance the chances of reaching a sustainable diplomatic settlement to the crisis.

Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari affirmed Tuesday that the State of Qatar, the Sultanate of Oman and Pakistan have been bending constant efforts to facilitate engagement between Iran and the United States to bridge their viewpoints.

​HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani received a telephone call on Monday from HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Anita Anand. Discussion during the call dealt with bilateral relations and ways to support and enhance cooperation. The two sides also discussed the latest regional developments, particularly diplomatic efforts and joint coordination aimed at de-escalating tensions and enhancing security and stability in the region.

HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Canada Tariq Ali Faraj Al Ansari affirmed that the Qatari diplomatic mission secured all its logistical and service capabilities to provide comprehensive support to the Qatari national football team and the Qatari fans who will travel to Vancouver for the anticipated match between Qatar and Canada on Friday morning (Qatar time), which comes as part of the second round of Group B matches.

The State of Qatar expressed its strong condemnation of the continued grave violations and attacks committed by Israel, the occupying power, against Palestinians, Lebanese, and Syrians, as well as its expansion of illegal settlement activities, forced displacement, and targeting of the Palestinian presence, in blatant violation of international law, relevant international agreements, and United Nations resolutions.

​The State of Qatar strongly condemned the unlawful Israeli decisions and measures in the Occupied West Bank, including the reclassification of large swaths of Palestinian land as so-called "state land" by Israel, and accelerating the pace of settlement activity in a flagrant breach of international law and the relevant United Nations resolutions.

​The Tamim bin Hamad Chair for Arabic Language and Andalusian Culture was inaugurated on Monday at the University of Granada in Spain, in the presence of senior academic figures.

​The State of Qatar reaffirmed its readiness to work closely with the UN Security Council and all international partners to strengthen dialogue and mediation efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace in the Middle East, while continuing to expand its bilateral and international humanitarian and development partnerships to help break the cycle of conflict.
