In a proud and historic moment for Qatari diplomacy, His Excellency Dr. Khalid bin Rashid Al-Mansouri, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Canada, has been named the “Revelation of the Year” at the prestigious Canada’s Ambassadors of the Year Awards 2025.

The award, presented at a diplomatic ceremony in Ottawa on June 3rd, recognizes ambassadors who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in public diplomacy, cultural outreach, and international engagement across Canada. Dr. Al-Mansouri’s selection reflects Qatar’s enduring global presence and the strength of its diplomatic ties with Canada.

The honour follows a year of unprecedented visibility for Qatar on Canadian soil …most notably marked by the first-ever official state visit of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, in September 2024. The historic visit, organized in close coordination by the Embassy of Qatar in Ottawa, included a landmark meeting with Former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and reaffirmed the strength of Qatar–Canada relations across all political and diplomatic spheres.

Marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between Qatar and Canada, the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Ottawa played a prominent role throughout 2024–2025 in deepening bilateral ties. This historic milestone was commemorated through various initiatives, culminating in a well-attended National Day reception in December 2024. Hosted at The Westin Ottawa, the event brought together over 300 Canadian political, diplomatic, and academic figures in celebration of five decades of friendship and cooperation.

Under the leadership of His Excellency Dr. Khalid bin Rashid Al-Mansouri, the Embassy embraced an inclusive approach to diplomacy—actively engaging with diverse communities and institutions across Canada. Through cultural events, participation in public diplomacy forums such as the YMCA Embassy Chef Showcase, and regular outreach with Canadian society, the Embassy helped reaffirm Qatar’s presence as a partner committed to openness, hospitality, and constructive dialogue.

This award is also a reflection of Qatar’s broader diplomatic vision, led by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and advanced through the efforts of Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. It is a reminder that Qatar’s voice in global affairs is not only strategic..it is sincere, human, and values-driven.
