Qatar Participates in High-Level Donations Event for UN Central Emergency Response Fund

The State of Qatar participated in the High-level donations Event for the United Nations' Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF).

The State of Qatar was represented in the meeting by HE Minister of State for foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi.

During the State of Qatar's speech given via video conference, His Excellency said work is ongoing to sign an agreement to provide a financial contribution to CERF worth $2 million for the period 2021-2022, to enable the fund to meet its needs and enhance its role as one of the leading entities in the world when it comes to humanitarian response.

His Excellency expressed his aspiration to continue working closely with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), stressing the State of Qatar's continued support for the Central Emergency Response Fund.

He pointed out that the State of Qatar was among the first countries to provide support to the Fund, and the total contributions made to date exceeded $17 million, in addition to paying its pledge of $5 million to the Fund for the period (2017-2021).

HE the Minister of State for foreign Affairs expressed his pride that the State of Qatar became a member of the fund's advisory team, and for chairing the group supporting the UN office for coordinating humanitarian affairs from July 2020 to June 2021.

He expressed thanks to OCHA for organizing today's important event, which coincides with CERF's 15th anniversary.
