Qatar Affirms that the Palestinian Issue Constitutes the Cornerstone of Any Solution in the Middle East

The State of Qatar affirmed that the Palestinian issue constitutes the cornerstone of any permanent and comprehensive solution in the Middle East.

This came in a speech delivered by HE the Ambassador of the State of Qatar and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and International Organizations in Vienna, Sultan bin Salmeen Al-Mansoori, President of the Arab Group, during the celebration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, which falls on Nov. 29 each year.

In his speech, His Excellency called on the United Nations and all its bodies to make all possible efforts to reach a just and comprehensive position, to find a permanent solution to the Palestinian issue, in a way that contributes to achieving the desired stability in the Middle East, and ensures that the peoples of the region live in peace.

His Excellency said that the Arab countries are committed to a just and comprehensive peace, but they view the unilateral measures taken by Israel in the occupied Palestinian territories, especially in East Jerusalem, and the violations of Al Quds - which has a special place in the hearts of all Arabs and Muslims - as inconsistent with the resolutions of international legitimacy, and threatens the chances of achieving peace, and aims to change the status quo, and exacerbates feelings of frustration.

His Excellency stressed that a just and comprehensive peace based on international references and resolutions based on truth and justice, and which does not detract from anyone's rights, is the only way to solve the Palestinian issue.

His Excellency added that the Arab countries renew, on this occasion, their call for the need to end the suffering of the Palestinian people, their support for restoring their legitimate rights, and accelerating the resumption of the real peace process within a multilateral framework that achieves the aspirations of the Palestinian people and restores their rights in order to reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, and to establish a new era of security, peace and stability that prevails in the Middle East.
