H.E. Honourable Janet Austin, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia received in her office in Victoria, H.E. the Ambassador of the State of Qatar, Saoud bin Abdullah Al- Mahmoud, who conveyed greetings from His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar to Her Excellency. The Ambassador also met during his visit to Victoria the Honourable Bruce Ralston, Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology in the Government of British Columbia as well as other senior officials. 

In both Victoria and Vancouver, Ambassador Al-Mahmoud also held meetings with trade and investment bodies and commissions and visited the World Trade Centre Vancouver, as well as discussing strengthening education relations with the University of Victoria and the University of British Columbia.

Ambassador Al-Mahmoud visit to British Columbia in the West of Canada, is his first official visit to another province in Canada, and is aimed at discussing the means of strengthening economic, educational and cultural relations between the State of Qatar and Canada.
