Assistant Foreign Minister Participates in Dialogue Session on Afghanistan in Jakarta

HE Assistant Foreign Minister and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater and HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi participated in a dialogue session with Indonesian academics on Afghanistan, during HE current visit to Jakarta.

The participants in the session emphasized the importance of forming an inclusive government in Afghanistan, in which all parties are involved, and that is responsible for achieving security and stability in the country.

The participants exchanged ideas and views on the situation of Afghan women and how to highlight their role in the political, economic, educational and social fields, as well as the possibility of implementing effective initiatives that would ensure a decent living for them and their participation in various state agencies.

Discussion during the session touched on initiatives implemented by Indonesian female leaders to support women in general and Afghan women in particular. Participants underlined the importance of the role of media in supporting Afghan women.

They also called for initiatives to provide the necessary humanitarian and relief support to the Afghan people, especially in winter.

The session affirmed the importance of unifying international efforts, especially Islamic countries' supportive efforts, to improve the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.
