His Excellency Tariq Ali Faraj Al-Ansari, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Canada, participated in CAPMUN 2026, held at the campus of the University of Ottawa under the theme “Back to Diplomacy.” The event brought together more than 200 high school students representing schools from across Canada, alongside university-level organizers and participants, in a dynamic forum focused on diplomacy, dialogue, and global cooperation.

His Excellency took part in a panel discussion alongside diplomatic and municipal representatives, where discussions centered on the importance of diplomacy in addressing global challenges and fostering mutual understanding among nations. During the session, His Excellency highlighted the State of Qatar’s active role in multilateral diplomacy, including its efforts in mediation and conflict resolution, as well as its continued commitment to humanitarian and development initiatives.

Ambassador Al-Ansari underscored the strong and growing relations between Qatar and Canada, built on shared values in education, security, and international cooperation. The session witnessed strong engagement from students, who posed thoughtful questions and participated in discussions on international relations and the future of diplomacy. A number of students also engaged with His Excellency in brief side conversations, raising questions on Qatar’s diplomatic role and broader regional and international issues. This participation reflects the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Canada’s continued commitment to public diplomacy and to engaging with youth as future leaders in international affairs.
